Planning for Your Transition
Transitioning into a career in teaching can be a demanding process. In planning for the months ahead, applicants should keep in mind the following details:
State requirements dictate that participants in programs such as this one successfully complete Praxis I and the first part of Praxis II before assuming responsibility as a classroom teacher. Praxis II dates routinely fill up well in advance of the registration deadline. To avoid any problems regarding testing, register early! More information on the tests that program participants need to take is available here.

Fellows should expect to attend several interviews with school principals as they seek a teaching placement. A polished resume and a compelling cover letter are essential to the interview process.
Inspired Teaching Fellows will receive a financial stipend for their work in the summer practicum. A portion of the stipend will be disbursed in mid-July, and the remainder will be paid in late August. Participants who do not attend all training activities or do not otherwise complete the summer practicum will not receive a stipend.
Inspired Teaching is currently unable to provide health insurance or any other benefits for program participants. Participants are responsible for making individual arrangements for health insurance during the summer months. Once participants begin teaching, they can expect to receive health care as part of their employment benefits. More details on costs associated with the program are available here.
