Financial Arrangements

Inspired Teaching Fellows receive the same salaries and benefits as other beginning teachers. Fellows-in-Residence at Capital City Public Charter School will receive a salary of $25,000 plus benefits.

All Inspired Teaching Fellows will receive a financial stipend for their work in the summer practicum. A portion of the stipend will be disbursed in mid-July, and the remainder will be paid in late August. Attendance at all summer practicum activities is mandatory. Participants who do not attend all training activities or do not otherwise complete the summer practicum will not receive a stipend.

As a benefit of the partnership between Inspired Teaching and AmeriCorps, Inspired Teaching Fellows will also receive a financial educational award at the completion of their first year of service. In addition to the educational award, Inspired Teaching Fellows are eligible for student loan deferment and child care benefits through their AmeriCorps membership. For Fellows who are not Fellows-in-Residence, tuition is $15,000. Inspired Teaching has secured funding to cover the tuition for those in the 2010 cohort who successfully complete the program. This funding will not cover the initial enrollment fee. Additionally, Inspired Teaching Fellows and Fellows-in-Residence will assume responsibility for the following categories of costs:
  • Testing fees
  • Fees associated with license applications, background checks, etc.
  • Course material fees, including books (estimated at $75 per course)

Before the school year starts, applicants should keep in mind the following
  • $240 in testing fees prior to Fall 2010
  • $300 enrollment fee
  • Cost for books (approximately $75 per course)
After the school year starts teachers will be paid by their school employers according to their salary schedule for new teachers.
